ESEE 4P Review

Only a few other companies in the world can create such high-quality knives like the ones that ESEE has, and among the models that they currently have, the ESEE 4P seems to stand apart from the rest. If you are looking for a reliable knife that you can take with you on your camping or hiking trips, the ESEE 4P might just be the one that you are looking for. This ESEE 4P review will talk about ESEE the company, features of this knife, and what online reviewers stated.

About ESEE

ESEE Coyote Molded Polymer Sheath

ESEE was once known as RAT (Randall’s Adventure Training) Cutlery. They changed the name back in 2007 because they wanted to start creating high-quality survival knives, and that is just what they did. Unlike other knife makers, ESEE actually field-tests their designs before these actually go into production, so you can be sure that every knife that bears the ESEE logo has gone through a lot of punishment and is guaranteed to get you out of the stickiest of situations.

Features of the ESEE 4P

  • The ESEE 4P has a 4” blade made from 1095 Carbon Steel, making it very strong and durable. You can use it for various purposes like field dressing your prey and hacking at branches to create shelter. The edge will still remain sharp after all that. The only thing that you have to remember is that even though the high carbon steel used for the blade is tough, it is prone to rust, so you need to lubricate and polish the blade on a regular basis.
  • The knife also comes with a very tough Kydex sheath which securely locks the blade in place so you do not need to worry about it unsheathing itself and dropping off when you are in the middle of your hike. The sheath is also fixed using screws so you can easily adjust the tightness to suit your needs.
  • The ESEE 4P also features a full-tang design; this allows the user to exert as much force as needed with every knife swing. The full tang means that the only way the knife will break is if the actual steel snaps and fails. Considering that the blade is made of 1095 Carbon steel, that is very unlikely to happen.

What Other People Think of the ESEE 4P

There are only a few knife makers that have the same kind of dedication to their products that ESEE has, and it really shows in their products which is why it can be a bit hard to find anyone who has anything bad to say about the ESEE 4P. People just love how tough the blade is. You have to really try to abuse the blade just so you can get to see any damage on it.

There are one or two complaints that people seem to have about the ESEE 4P but they are minor. There are some people who say that the handle is too small for their hands, but in all fairness, you have to be a pretty large guy (or gal) to make the ESEE 4P look like a pocket knife in your hands. There are also some who are disappointed that the black coating fades with age, but this is natural and will happen to all kinds of knives eventually.

Conclusion and Rating

The ESEE 4P gets a solid 5 out of 5 rating because it is as close as you can get a truly perfect survival knife. It has a strong and sturdy blade, it remains sharp even after constant abuse, and it is perfectly weighted and fits comfortably in your hand. If people were given a choice to pick out a knife to bring with them on a deserted island, almost all of them will choose the ESEE 4P.
